Virtual Event
Coffee and Conversations with the Waking Women Healing Institute
Registration is now open for the Virtual Coffee and Conversation to learn more about enhancing culturally based programs and strengthening our collaborative networks using cultural and community ties. The Waking Women Healing Institute has always been a place of healing, learning, and sharing, and during this time they will share with us their survivor-led organization Herstory and advocacy. They will also share how their dedicated staff and volunteers use their cultural tools for healing and empowerment. Waking Women will also share how their trauma-informed approaches support survivors and MMIP family members through direct service and programs.
OFVPS staff will also be in attendance for any questions related to FVPSA funding. They will also confirm how FVPSA grant funds can be used to support culturally based programs and activities.
Who should sign up? Tribal Nations and Tribal organizations that are recipients of Family Violence Prevention and Services (FVPSA) grants. Advocates, Directors, Managers, Staff, and Financial management are all welcome. The ongoing purpose of these calls continues to be:
- Increasing resources for tribes and tribal organizations to meet the needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives surviving domestic violence, dating violence, and family violence.
- Increasing resources for Tribes and Tribal organizations to expand the workforce of advocates and partners to meet the needs of AI/AN survivors.
- Increasing public awareness about primary and secondary prevention of family violence, domestic violence, and dating violence,
- And culturally specific activities.
