Dr. Percy Lezard engaged in an intersectional analysis of Indigeneity and gender diversity in the context of gender-based violence to share the rich history, continued resilience, and teachings of 2 Spirit people in Indigenous communities. Dr. Lezard also identified the historical and contemporary colonial practices that violently impose heteronormativity and cisnormativity upon Indigenous communities with implications for gender-based violence. During this webinar, Dr. Lezard will share findings and recommendations for a reimagined future from the MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ National Action Plan which they co-authored including calls for inclusion to service providers and implications for violence prevention programs.
